What we do
The Chicago South Shore and South Bend Railroad is a Class III freight railroad operating about 182 miles of track between Chicago, Illinois and South Bend, Indiana, serving industries in northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana including coal and steel mill traffic. It formerly also ran the South Shore Line interurban passenger service, which it transferred to a public transit authority (NICTD) in 1990.
