Cathay Bank is a commercial bank headquartered in the Chinatown neighborhood of Los Angeles, California, founded in 1962 as the first bank owned and operated primarily by Chinese Americans to serve that community in Southern California. It is the principal subsidiary of publicly traded Cathay General Bancorp and now offers retail and commercial banking services through branches across the United States and in several other countries.
