Books-A-Million is a U.S. bookstore chain founded in 1917 in Florence, Alabama, operating roughly 260 stores in 32 states under names including Books-A-Million, Bookland, and 2nd & Charles. Stores sell books, magazines, toys, technology, and gifts, many with an in-store Joe Muggs Java Café. The company was taken private by the founding Anderson family in a 2015 buyout.
