What we do
Beginner Books is a children's publishing imprint founded in 1957 by Dr. Seuss (Theodor Geisel), Phyllis Cerf, and Helen Palmer Geisel to publish easy-to-read books for young children using a controlled vocabulary. Launched with The Cat in the Hat, it became one of the most successful early-reader book lines in the U.S. and is now part of Random House/Penguin Random House's children's publishing division.
