Health Coach
A Health Coach works with clients one-on-one or in groups to help them achieve wellness goals related to nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle habits, often using motivational interviewing techniques to encourage sustainable behavior change. Found in wellness centers, corporate wellness programs, or private practice, they design nutrition and wellness counseling plans and sometimes build broader wellness program curricula for organizations. Strong communication skills are vital for building trust and keeping clients accountable over time.
Duties & responsibilities
- Guide clients through behavior change using motivational interviewing and reflective listening techniques
- Design personalized health and wellness plans addressing nutrition, exercise, sleep, and lifestyle habits
- Deliver one-on-one and group coaching sessions both virtually and in-person
- Use health data and biometric assessments to track progress and adjust coaching approaches
- Build community engagement and support accountability through ongoing member communications
- Help clients develop sustainable habits around stress management, physical activity, and nutrition
