This role builds Astranis's additive manufacturing capability from scratch, owning both metal and polymer 3D printing processes and the full lifecycle from design collaboration through production and quality. What they ask for

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, physics, or equivalent technical field
  • 2+ years of direct experience in additive manufacturing, specifically metal (Laser Bed Powder Fusion)
  • Experience with explosive/combustible powder storage and handling
  • Familiarity with additive manufacturing software
  • 1+ years of CNC machining experience with complex (5-axis) machines
  • 3D CAD software proficiency (Solidworks, Siemens NX, or similar)
  • Competency in GD&T and drawing reviews
  • Experience writing technical documents
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and quality capability
  • Mechanical design experience with solid modeling and prints
  • Must work onsite 5 days per week
  • U.S. Citizenship, Lawful Permanent Residency, or Refugee/Asylee Status

Nice to have

  • Master's degree in relevant STEM field with additive manufacturing applications
  • Advanced post-processing techniques (annealing, Hot Isostatic Pressing)
  • CAM software experience (Fusion 360, Mastercam, Siemens NX, or similar)
  • Hands-on machinist experience programming and running 5-axis parts
  • Experience with complex machining centers (mill/turns, horizontals, multi-channel machines, automated systems)
  • Contract manufacturer process setup and qualification experience
  • First article inspection report interpretation and precision hand tools experience
  • Tolerance stack-up analysis on parts
  • MES/MRP systems production environment experience
