What they ask for

Required

  • BS in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 12+ years in robotics or safety-critical engineering
  • 7+ years focused on functional safety
  • Expertise in risk reduction methods and hierarchy of controls
  • Deep knowledge of ISO 13849, IEC 61508, or similar functional safety frameworks
  • Familiarity with ANSI/RIA R15.08 and ISO 10218 series for robot safety
  • Experience managing third-party vendors or labs for verification and validation
  • Hands-on design and implementation of safety systems for mobile, dynamic, or collaborative robots
  • Ability to coordinate across engineering teams on safety requirements
  • Experience with SISTEMA safety analysis tool
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Nice to have

  • TUV Functional Safety Engineer certification
  • Experience with safety firmware implementation and fault handling
  • Field deployment experience with robotic systems including customer interaction
  • Prior involvement in CE marking and regulatory certifications
  • Familiarity with SOTIF, ISO/IEC TS 22440, and ISO/IEC TS 25223 applied to AI/ML systems
  • Deep industrial mobile robot safety experience with safety-rated devices
  • Interest in safety challenges for dynamically stable or legged robotic systems
  • MS or PhD in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • Prior involvement in standards development or industry working groups
  • Experience mentoring senior or staff-level engineers
