- Law degree (JD, LLB, or equivalent)
- Licensed to practice law in California or New York
- Practical problem-solving in fast-changing technical environments
- Expertise in EU AI Act, U.S. AI legislation, GDPR, CCPA, and global AI frameworks
- Ability to advise on emerging AI regulation where no specific legislation exists
- Sound judgment on risk calibration in unsettled legal areas
- Collaborative approach without ego or territoriality
Nice to have
- At least 8 years of legal experience advising technology companies on copyright, privacy, data, and AI regulation
- Prior in-house counsel experience
- Direct engagement with regulators or standards bodies
- Working technical literacy in machine learning model training, evaluation, and deployment
- Academic or publishing background with copyright and data licensing experience
- Experience with biosecurity, dual-use research, export controls, or safety frameworks
- Prior work advising on academic or industry research, publications, and data sharing
