What this role is
AST SpaceMobile is looking for a mechanical engineer to perform structural analysis and finite element modeling of spacecraft components destined for a space-based broadband network. The role suits engineers with at least seven years of hands-on experience in spacecraft structures, who are comfortable with FEMAP, NASTRAN, and static load analysis, and who can work collaboratively across disciplines to evaluate designs and support testing.

Required
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 7+ years hands-on experience in spacecraft structural analysis
- FEMAP and NASTRAN expertise
- Finite element modeling best practices
- Experience with composite space structures
- Ability to identify critical loads in coupled loads analysis
- U.S. citizenship (ITAR compliance)
Nice to have
- MS degree
- Familiarity with dynamic loads and modal analysis
- Ability to code in programming languages or toolset APIs to automate tasks
- Experience with materials properties, databases, and allowables definition
