What they ask for
Required
- 4+ years payroll tax experience focused on tax defect resolution
- Expert knowledge of state and federal payroll tax notice types
- Experience preparing and filing amended federal and state payroll tax returns across multiple states
- Deep knowledge of federal payroll tax law and deposit schedules
- Multi-state payroll tax expertise including reciprocal agreements and local compliance
- Prior experience as a lead, senior specialist, or SME with documented coaching examples
- Advanced Excel skills for reconciliation and audit work
- Strong written communication for technical documentation
Nice to have
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or expected within 18 months
- Enrolled Agent (EA) credential
- Experience at a payroll service bureau, PEO, or multi-client environment
