What they ask for
Required
- 8+ years professional software engineering experience
- 2+ years managing engineers as a people manager or hands-on tech lead in agile consumer product delivery
- Deep expertise in at least one core area (native mobile, backend services, infrastructure/DevOps, or networking/VPN) with breadth across the stack
- Experience leading or contributing to a technical acquisition, migration, or takeover of a live product
- Track record of raising engineering quality on inherited systems through testing, CI/CD, code review, and documentation
- Proficiency with AI coding agents for development, investigation, and testing
- Strong candid and empathetic communication skills
- Experience building and operating large-scale systems and leading technical direction
Nice to have
- Experience running a consumer VPN, proxy, or privacy product in restrictive networks
- Experience managing distributed, remote, multi-timezone teams
- Subscription business experience (in-app purchases, Stripe, RevenueCat, attribution and analytics)
- Vendor and cost management across multiple cloud providers
- SOC 2, GDPR, CCPA compliance program experience and security audits
- Experience building acquisition-integration playbooks or internal engineering standards programs
