What they ask for
Required
- Deep technical knowledge of US international tax provisions including subpart F, NCTI, BEAT, and foreign tax credit rules applied in planning context
- Working knowledge of subchapter C for multinational groups including earnings and profits, stock basis, and reorganizations
- Led tax planning projects end-to-end from scoping through implementation
- Understanding of how planning positions flow into transfer pricing, ASC 740 provision, and US international compliance forms
- Able to research technical tax questions and write well-supported memoranda
- Able to review tax models and identify technical errors
- Managed outside advisors on scope, budget, and deliverables
- Can manage multiple concurrent projects with different stakeholders
- Can reach defensible recommendations with incomplete facts or unsettled guidance
- Communicate technical tax conclusions clearly to non-specialists
- Support for Anthropic's AI safety mission
Nice to have
- CPA, JD, or LLM in taxation
- 10-15 years of extensive US international tax experience combining public accounting and in-house multinational technology roles
- Experience with post-acquisition integration planning and step plans
- Direct experience with transfer pricing, Pillar Two, or FDDEI deduction interactions
- Familiarity with non-US tax rules in typical technology company jurisdictions
- Working knowledge of partnership tax for multinational groups
- Experience planning large cross-border commercial arrangements like cloud or licensing agreements
- Experience with infrastructure or capital-intensive investments and joint venture structures
- Experience supporting IRS examinations of international positions
- Scaled a company's international structure during tenure
- Built or reviewed US international tax models directly
- Used Claude or similar AI tools in tax work
- Mentored other tax professionals
