What this role is
This role owns the energy scheduling and portfolio management function for Anthropic's non-cloud data centers, forecasting supply and demand, managing contracts with utilities and power markets, and building operational processes from scratch. It suits someone with deep experience in power markets, energy procurement, and large-load management who can coordinate across teams without direct authority.

What they ask for
Required
- 8+ years in energy markets, power scheduling, energy procurement, or utility operations
- Hands-on experience with scheduling and settlement in ISO/RTO markets like ERCOT, PJM, NYISO, or MISO
- Fluent understanding of ESAs, PPAs, and utility large-load agreements
- Ability to predict and navigate curtailment and shortage pricing events
- Experience with gas scheduling, nominations, and pipeline constraints
- Experience designing or operating load flexibility and demand-response programs
- Built or operated energy consumption and cost forecasts for large loads
- Ability to coordinate across teams without direct authority
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
Nice to have
- Experience with data center or large, fast-ramping loads in ISO/RTO markets
- Experience with behind-the-meter, islanded, or bridge-power configurations
- Familiarity with energy hedging and risk management
- Knowledge of natural gas markets and hub pricing
- Experience with energy data systems and interval metering
- Exposure to utility rate cases and interconnection proceedings
- Prior experience standing up operations functions in growing teams
