- Legal authorization to work full-time in the United States

- Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC)
- Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC)
- Steward's Department Food Handler (FH) endorsement on MMC
- Able to be away from home for over two months
- Able to push/pull up to 25 pounds
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds floor to shoulder
- Able to lift overhead and transport articles up to 50 pounds
- Willing to work up to 4 hours overtime daily
- Able to climb ladders and stairs up to 200 feet
- Able to stand for extended periods
- Able to walk, stand, stoop, sit, climb, and carry on daily basis
Nice to have
- Associate degree or higher in Culinary Arts
- 3+ years direct experience in institutional food preparation
- 1+ years experience sailing on tanker or ship
- Completion of sanitation or food handler training class
- Basic training course completion or endorsement
- VPDSD or security awareness course completion or endorsement
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions clearly
- Common sense application of procedures and safety protocols
- Organized and methodical problem-solving
