5+ years professional senior backend engineering experience
Go as primary language with concurrency, networking, and cross-compilation for Android and iOS
Python and Node.js proficiency for existing services and integrations
PostgreSQL schema design, migrations, and performance tuning
MongoDB or document store experience
Redis or caching layer experience
AWS services including Lambda, S3, RDS, Route 53, IAM, Docker
Terraform or Ansible infrastructure management
REST API design, documentation, and authentication patterns
GitHub version control and pull-request workflows
SOLID and Clean Coding principles
CI/CD experience
WireGuard protocol knowledge and peer management
Shadowsocks or proxy protocol understanding
TCP/IP and DNS fundamentals
TLS and encryption knowledge
Experience with packet flow through mobile tunnel interfaces
Third-party platform integration experience with Stripe, analytics providers, and observability tools
Applied security engineering including secrets management and cryptographic key handling
Day-to-day use of agentic AI coding tools with strong verification judgment
Strong communication and empathy
Independent delivery with technical leadership capability

Nice to have

VPN, proxy, or privacy backend experience at consumer scale
Censorship-circumvention tooling experience with Shadowsocks plugins, V2Ray, Xray, obfs4
Contributions to wireguard-go, gVisor netstack, lwIP, or Shadowsocks implementations
Multi-provider infrastructure experience with AWS, DigitalOcean, Vultr, Hetzner
Cloudflare experience
Event-driven and workflow systems like SQS and Step Functions
Resilient integration patterns with dependency chains and fallbacks
GDPR, CCPA, SOC 2, and compliance experience
Data retention and law-enforcement request handling experience
Kotlin or Swift literacy for mobile pairing
Experience integrating acquired products or codebases
