What this role is
Tempo seeks a part-time finance intern to build and own pricing models, cost accounting structures, and management reporting for an industrial energy storage company. This role is best suited to a finance or accounting student who wants hands-on experience with hardware unit economics, tax credit mechanics, and annual budgeting cycles, with direct exposure to models that inform real customer quotes and investor communications.

Required
- Currently enrolled undergraduate in finance, accounting, economics, engineering, or related field with at least two semesters of relevant coursework
- Strong Excel skills including modeling from scratch and three-statement mechanics
- Precision with numbers and habit of self-checking work
- Availability of 15–20 hours per week on consistent weekly schedule during academic term
- Clear written communication for management and investor audiences
- Working familiarity with AI tools such as Claude or ChatGPT and judgment to use them responsibly
Nice to have
- Coursework or prior exposure to manufacturing or cost accounting
- Familiarity with Inflation Reduction Act tax credits (45X, 48E, 45Y) or project finance
- Experience with NetSuite, QuickBooks, or comparable ERP
- Interest in energy storage, industrial decarbonization, or hardware businesses
