Turfing
Turfing is a street dance style that originated in Oakland, California, in the 2000s, characterized by fluid, illusion-based movements of the arms, legs, and body that create the appearance of gliding, popping, and contorting in ways that seem to defy physical limits. The name stands for "Taking Up Room on the Floor," and it grew out of dance battles and memorial gatherings in the Bay Area hip-hop scene. Dancers are drawn to its improvisational, storytelling quality and its roots in community expression.
