Modern Pentathlon

Modern pentathlon is an Olympic multi-sport event combining fencing, swimming, equestrian show jumping, and a final combined discipline of pistol shooting and cross-country running (laser-run), originally designed by Baron Pierre de Coubertin to simulate the skills needed by a 19th-century cavalry soldier behind enemy lines. It tests versatility and endurance across radically different athletic and technical skills in a single competition.
