Hobby Horsing

Hobby horsing is a hobby, primarily popular among girls and young women in Finland and increasingly elsewhere, in which participants use a stick-and-head hobby horse toy to perform dressage-style movements, jumps, and obstacle courses that mimic real equestrian sport. Practitioners, sometimes called "hobbyists" or "hobby horse riders," build and customize their own hobby horses and compete in organized shows judged on form and technique similar to actual horseback riding. The activity gained mainstream attention partly through the 2017 Finnish documentary Hobbyhorse Revolution, and offers an accessible way to enjoy equestrian-style movement and community without owning a horse.
