Bull-Leaping

Bull-leaping is an ancient athletic and ritual practice, most famously depicted in Minoan Crete frescoes (circa 1500 BCE), in which an athlete grasps the horns of a charging bull and vaults over its back. Scholars believe it held religious or ceremonial significance in Bronze Age Mediterranean culture beyond simple sport. Modern reconstructions and similar bull-vaulting traditions (such as course landaise in southwestern France) are performed as cultural heritage displays and daredevil entertainment.
