Tongan is a Polynesian language spoken by roughly 200,000 people, primarily in the Kingdom of Tonga and by Tongan diaspora communities in New Zealand, Australia, and the United States. It is one of Tonga's two official languages alongside English and is taught in schools and used in government, media, and church services.
