Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT)
Healthcare and Medical
REBT is a form of cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy developed by psychologist Albert Ellis in the 1950s that helps people identify and challenge irrational beliefs contributing to emotional distress. It uses the ABC model (Activating event, Belief, Consequence) to show clients how their interpretations of events, rather than the events themselves, drive their emotional and behavioral responses. Therapists and counselors use REBT to treat anxiety, depression, and other conditions by teaching clients to adopt more rational, flexible thinking patterns.
