Medical Surgical Nursing

Healthcare and Medical

Medical Surgical Nursing (often called Med-Surg) is a nursing specialty focused on caring for adult patients before and after surgery or during treatment for a wide range of acute and chronic illnesses. Med-surg nurses work in hospital units, manage patient recovery, administer medications, monitor vital signs, and coordinate with physicians, making it one of the largest and most foundational nursing specialties. Many nurses begin their careers in med-surg to build broad clinical experience before specializing further.
