Cajon
Music and Audio Production
The cajon is a box-shaped percussion instrument played by slapping its front face with the hands, originating among enslaved Afro-Peruvian communities as a substitute for banned drums. It's now a staple in flamenco, acoustic, and folk music because of its portability and versatility, producing both deep bass tones and sharp snare-like slaps depending on where it's struck. Musicians and hobbyist drummers use it for its compact, chair-like form that doubles as a seat.
