Blood Pressure

Healthcare and Medical

Blood pressure is the force exerted by circulating blood against the walls of arteries, measured as systolic (during heartbeats) over diastolic (between beats) pressure in millimeters of mercury. Healthcare providers routinely measure it with a sphygmomanometer or automated cuff to screen for hypertension or hypotension, both important indicators of cardiovascular health. Monitoring blood pressure is a basic clinical skill used across nursing, medicine, and fitness/wellness professions.
