TECO Energy is a Tampa, Florida-based energy holding company founded in 1899, whose main subsidiaries are Tampa Electric (an investor-owned electric utility serving West Central Florida) and Peoples Gas Company (Florida's largest natural gas distributor). It became a wholly owned subsidiary of Canadian energy company Emera Incorporated in 2016.
