It was originally founded in 2008 as Heat Biologics, a clinical-stage immuno-oncology company, before restructuring around its manufacturing business (briefly known as NightHawk Biosciences) and rebranding as Scorpius Holdings. The company has faced significant financial distress, including going-concern warnings and a Nasdaq delisting notice in 2025.
