What this role is

This role maintains and monitors machinery aboard commercial oil tankers, recording equipment readings and assisting engineers with repairs during multi-month sea rotations.   • Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC)
  • Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) with Able Seafarer – Engine endorsement
  • Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) with Rating Forming Part of an Engineering Watch endorsement
  • Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) with Qualified Member of the Engine Department endorsement
  • Ability to be away from home for more than two months at a time
  • Capacity to push/pull up to 200 pounds
  • Capacity to lift and carry up to 100 pounds from floor to shoulder
  • Capacity to lift from floor to overhead and transport up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs ranging from 5 to 200 feet
  • Ability to perform equipment maintenance
  • Willingness to work in confined spaces and extreme environmental conditions

Nice to have

  • One or more years working on crude oil tankers
  • One or more years working on product tankers
  • Basic Training endorsement on Merchant Mariner Credential
  • Basic Oil Tanker Cargo Operations endorsement
  • Vessel Personnel with Designated Security Duties endorsement

  • Tankerman Assistant endorsement or Tankerman P.I.C.
  • Willingness to work overtime
