- BLS Certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- One year recent full-time patient care experience, or nursing student with one completed clinical rotation, or military medical experience (Hospital Corpsman, Combat Medic, or Medical Service Technician), or additional education in mental health
- 8th grade level competency in applied mathematics and reading comprehension
- Ability to lift and move patients, stand and walk extensively
