What they ask for
Required
- IBLCE educational/licensing requirements met
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or American Red Cross
- Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) or equivalent at hire, with IBCLC certification within 24 months
Nice to have
- Registered Nurse (RN) credential
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (required within 6 months)
- One year hospital or community nursing experience with breastfeeding mothers and infants
- Two years nursing experience in unrelated field, or two years verified lay experience with breastfeeding families under IBCLC supervision, or two years as certified health and wellness educator
- Staff education development and delivery experience in breastfeeding management
- Experience in perinatal nursing, obstetrics, pediatrics, neonatal intensive care or related field
- Experience counseling breastfeeding families in inpatient, ambulatory or community settings
