Role-playing games (RPGs) are games in which participants assume the identity of fictional characters and collaboratively act out or narrate a story, often guided by a game master and a rulebook, as in tabletop games like Dungeons & Dragons. They can also take digital form as video games where players develop a character's stats and story through choices and combat. Their appeal lies in creative storytelling, problem-solving, and social interaction within an imagined world.
