# Contribution points and tiers

How points are earned, why they can't be farmed, and the leaderboard.

Contribution points reward substance, not posting volume — there are no points for engagement here.

## How you earn

Points come from verified or capped real events: an organization confirms it hired you, a coworker recommendation, a confirmed team relationship, adding real career history, contributing salary data, achieving goals.

## Why they can't be farmed

Each event pays out once per source — add, delete, re-add nets nothing. Awards that depend on another party (a recommendation, a confirmed team line) require the other side to be real and to confirm. If a source is later removed or unconfirmed, the points revoke automatically.

## Tiers and the leaderboard

Points add up to a tier shown on your profile, and the [Leaderboard](/leaderboard) ranks members by contribution. Don't want to appear? Opt out in Edit Profile — your points still accrue privately.
