Verilog is a hardware description language (HDL) used by digital design and ASIC/FPGA engineers to model and simulate electronic circuits at the register-transfer level before fabrication. It lets engineers describe the behavior and structure of digital systems, from simple logic gates to complex processors, which are then synthesized into actual hardware. It remains one of the two dominant HDLs (alongside VHDL) taught in electrical and computer engineering programs.
