In music, strings refers to instruments that produce sound via vibrating strings—such as violin, viola, cello, double bass, guitar, and harp—played by bowing, plucking, or strumming. Musicians who play these instruments perform in orchestras, chamber ensembles, bands, and solo settings across classical, folk, and popular music. In computer science, 'strings' also refers to a fundamental data type representing sequences of characters used in programming.
