Stress First Aid (SFA) is a peer-support model, originally developed for military and first-responder communities, that provides early, informal help to colleagues experiencing stress reactions before they escalate into more serious problems. It uses a simple framework (often summarized as Check, Coordinate, Cover, Calm, Connect, Competence, Confidence, Restore) that coworkers and supervisors can apply without being clinicians. It is now used in healthcare, emergency services, and other high-stress workplaces to build resilience and reduce burnout.
