Shadcn UI (often written shadcn/ui) is an open-source collection of reusable React components built on Radix UI primitives and styled with Tailwind CSS. Rather than being installed as a traditional npm package, its component code is copied directly into a project via a CLI, giving developers full ownership to customize styling and behavior. It's widely used by frontend developers and startups to quickly assemble polished, accessible UI without building design systems from scratch.
