Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) is an AI architecture that pairs a language model with a retrieval mechanism, typically a vector database, to pull in relevant external documents at query time and incorporate them into the model's generated response. This reduces hallucinations and allows the model to answer questions using current or proprietary information beyond its original training data.
