Pulmonary function testing (PFT) is a group of diagnostic tests, such as spirometry, that measure how well the lungs take in and release air and how efficiently they transfer oxygen into the blood. Respiratory therapists and pulmonologists use these tests to diagnose and monitor conditions like asthma, COPD, and other lung diseases.
