Max for Live is a visual programming environment developed by Cycling '74 that integrates directly into Ableton Live, allowing musicians and producers to build custom instruments, audio effects, and MIDI tools using a node-based patching interface. It is used by electronic musicians, sound designers, and live performers to extend Live's stock capabilities with bespoke devices, generative music tools, and hardware/software integrations.
