Mammography is a specialized medical imaging technique that uses low-dose X-rays to examine breast tissue, primarily used to screen for and diagnose breast cancer. Radiologic technologists who perform mammograms undergo specific certification to position patients and operate mammography equipment safely and accurately. Radiologists then interpret the resulting images to detect tumors, calcifications, or other abnormalities.
