Intravenous hydration is a medical treatment in which fluids, such as saline or electrolyte solutions, are delivered directly into a patient's bloodstream through a vein to treat or prevent dehydration. It is commonly administered by nurses and other clinicians in hospitals, urgent care clinics, and emergency settings for patients who cannot adequately drink fluids or have lost significant fluids due to illness, surgery, or exertion. It allows for rapid, controlled fluid replacement compared to oral rehydration.
