Bluemix was the original name of IBM's cloud platform-as-a-service offering, launched in 2014 and based on Cloud Foundry, before being rebranded to IBM Cloud in 2017. The rebranding reflected IBM's expansion beyond PaaS into broader IaaS and hybrid cloud capabilities.
