# Hyperledger Composer

Hyperledger Composer was an open-source tool for rapidly building blockchain business networks and smart contracts on top of Hyperledger Fabric. Developers used its modeling language and APIs to define assets, participants, and transactions without writing extensive low-level chaincode. The project was deprecated by the Hyperledger Foundation in 2019 in favor of writing chaincode directly against Fabric.
