gRPC is an open-source remote procedure call (RPC) framework originally developed by Google, used by software engineers to enable efficient communication between services in distributed systems and microservices architectures. It uses Protocol Buffers for serialization and HTTP/2 for transport, enabling fast, strongly-typed, cross-language API calls.
