ggplot2 is a data visualization package for the R programming language, built on Hadley Wickham's implementation of the 'grammar of graphics.' It lets data scientists and statisticians build complex, layered plots (scatter plots, histograms, boxplots, etc.) by combining data, aesthetic mappings, and geometric objects in a consistent syntax. It is one of the most widely used tools in the R ecosystem for producing publication-quality charts.
