# Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA)

An FPGA is an integrated circuit containing a configurable array of logic blocks and interconnects that engineers can reprogram after manufacturing to implement custom digital circuits. Hardware and firmware engineers use FPGAs (from vendors like Xilinx/AMD and Intel/Altera) for tasks requiring parallel processing or low-latency custom logic, such as signal processing, networking equipment, and hardware prototyping. Unlike ASICs, their behavior can be redesigned via hardware description languages like VHDL or Verilog.
