Exploit development is the process of creating code or techniques that take advantage of software vulnerabilities (such as buffer overflows or memory corruption bugs) to achieve unintended behavior, like arbitrary code execution or privilege escalation. It is performed by security researchers, penetration testers, and red teamers to demonstrate real-world risk of vulnerabilities, and by malicious actors to build malware or attack tools.
