Emotional Intelligence (EI or EQ) is the capacity to recognize, understand, and manage one's own emotions while also perceiving and influencing the emotions of others. Popularized by psychologist Daniel Goleman, it's typically broken into components like self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills, and is considered a key predictor of success in leadership, teamwork, and relationships. Many organizations use EI assessments and training to improve workplace communication and management effectiveness.
