Electrocardiography (ECG or EKG) is a diagnostic technique that records the electrical activity of the heart over time using electrodes placed on the skin. Cardiologists, nurses, and biomedical engineers use it to detect arrhythmias, heart attacks, and other cardiac abnormalities. The resulting waveform trace shows characteristic P, QRS, and T waves that reflect the heart's electrical conduction cycle.
