A data mart is a subset of a data warehouse, focused on a specific business line, department, or subject area, such as sales, finance, or marketing. Organizations build data marts to give specific teams faster, more targeted access to relevant data without navigating an entire enterprise data warehouse. Data marts can be dependent (sourced from a central warehouse) or independent, and are typically smaller and simpler to manage than full data warehouses.
